Checking in mid week

Seems like the winds from the north west are pushing our Indian summer away. The morning news featured some photos from a very white area north of us...ugh :( Just yesterday Joe & I had the "time to winterize the motorcycle" discussion...he won, I didn't, and the bike is still in the driveway! Probably this weekend.

I've continued with my painting...good wood...gave my secretary in the living a fresh look with Behr's Tuscan Russet. Certainly adds a punch of colour to my caramel room.

While doing all this, Joe & I decided to push forward with the kitchen cupboard re-facing. We added trim to the flat doors a la shaker style. Now to fill nail holes and such before we prepare to paint. I'll do the inside as we take down the doors...and we are going to spray paint the hinges, black I think, as I have the energy/flexibility and time. This should save us from having the whole kitchen in chaos at once.

I hope to be finished by late October. I am undecided on knobs, pulls or whatever. There has never been anything...there's a cut out on the bottom edge for your hand...never like it but...I do like the price. I must say that I'm having a bit of house envy...lots of family are moving up but not us...I'm just too cheap. We are in 'semi retirement mode' and a huge mortgage just doesn't work for us. So we are dreaming big but doing small and are quite happy with our choice.

October looks busy...lots of road trips south to celebrate Thanksgiving with both girls and families...last one together in the foreseeable future. Then a farewell dinner for Jeff & Heather at Boleros...wow...lots of protein coming our way...and then I'm pencilled in to go down end of the month to help with some packing. That will be a happy/sad time. We are so happy for Heather & Jeff...moving on and up, but sad that they feel they have to take JR with them! Why can't he stay behind? He's doing so many awesome things right now, his speaking is so clear and loud, he knows what he likes...steak isn't meat ya know?!...and so forth. But I'm hoping someone will be taking more photos and posting them for us! HINT HINT!

Until next month

Maybe JT and Alex will have to set up a webcam date with Jon. Maybe I'll have to figure out how to make a webcam work...
