Y2K + 10

It seems just yesterday we were all in a panic because we didn't know if life and the world would continue on after the clock struck midnight.  The military were on alert for mass chaos, businesses had every piece of data backed up and removed to a safe location, folks had withdrawn massive amounts of cash in case of computer mayhem and everyone had extra food, water, gasoline and other such essentials stock piled. But January 1, 2000 came much like other days and life as we knew slowly returned to normal.

With the passing of New Year's Eve 2009, so goes a familiar watering hole.  Joe's bar is going to be moving. Times they are a changing. The 'lease has run out, a new tenant has signed on and it's all called progress. The new location of Joe's Bar is just around the corner and will be more intimate but with the same great hospitality and atmosphere.  We hope our regular clientele will join us for a refreshment or 2 after the renovations are complete sometime in January.  Until then...here's Joe preparing to toast the close of an era with his 10 year old Coke and a much older bottle of Screech!  And so until we meet once more ...

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

Happy New Year.
Great picture. We had a quiet evening at home. Romantic dinner, bottle of wine and watched the celebration on TV.
Today we will be taking down the tree and putting away the holiday decorations.

Good luck with the move and renovations being done at Joe's bar. Nice picture but I wonder how you kept a bottle of Coke for 10 years. Happy New Year to you and yours!

Well Mumzy, we had it on display on the ledge under the kitchen cathedral ceiling! I switched the display after 10 years....I did dust the stuff over the years...but this past month we decided to do a purge! Bye Bye Coke!

i always thought the mini bottles of Coke in the basement bedrooms at Nannie and Papa's house in Newcastle were SO COOL! especially when it eventually separated.
