Great weekend

Jeff dropped Heather and Jonathan off at Joe's work, so they could show off the baby - and yes it was a Kodak moment. Jeff then went on to set up for his trade show and the others came home directly.

We went out for our garlic feast and we were not disappointed. We are stunk afterwards, and some more than others. I won't name names!

Saturday while Jeff did his show, we dropped of our household hazardous waste, then headed into St Albert to the bridal shop. WOW! Lots of selection, 12 designers, price points all over the board...but no decisions made.

After lunch, we ate a lot, we headed for the toy store...checked out the Bumbo seats and after Jonathan tried on on the store floor, we knew he just needed it! Jonathan is the type of child who has to see everything...and you can't do that flat on the floor, you have to be able to twist your head and kick your feet...!

Saturday night we did jerk chicken with Anne's real jerk spices. Man oh man, was it hot! Very tasty but it's good that we had potato salad to calm our pallets. Just so you know...it gets spicy in the frig overnight!

Sunday we went for a walk, Papa pushed the stroller. Went and checked out Joseph & Alex's favorite playground. By the time we got there, Jonathan was fast asleep. When we arrived home again, we simply lifted the stroller into the family room and he slept for a solid 2 hours! That worked out well, he should have been in fine form at Daddy's show...we dropped Heather and Jonathan off so they could visit with the other vendors before returning home.

Greta weekend guys...thanks for coming up!

Getting dirty!!!!

Freecycle has proved frustrating this time. The bike helmet was pickup within minutes of notification. The louver doors, well, the person thought it was in another part of the city in which I DO NOT live. One of the rules is to post where the items are...someone wasn't thinking when they were reading. the pick up is set up for Friday, so we'll see what happens.

So I've been playing with my plants!

Can you see my first tomato flower starting to open???? I'm so excited!

My lilac shrubs are coming into bud, hopefully there will be loads of flowers. They are a favorite of mine!

Quick...I need an ice cream pail!

All the neighbourhood kids are in the swampy parts around town, catching tadpoles! I think Joanthan should go home with a bucket full. His Mommy & Daddy can put it on the kitchen counter and wait for them to turn into FROGS!!!!!! What do you think??????

What am I going to do with you Joe?

Joe is somewhat gullible when it comes to sales people etc. He somehow got committed to a 'demonstration' of some wonder medical type air filtering system. I knew that someone was coming over last night around 8:30 - when I'm usually in my pj's - but Joe wasn't too sure what it was all about.

Well it was a sales pitch. We stopped it right at the door...I wasn't interested in spending money...not with Joe's taxes due! Anyways, the woman and Joe got talking...then out came a French word, then anther, then Mirimichi etc...end result...this woman is a friend of Magela - sorry if that's spelled wrong - Doiron...Lorenzo's baby sister! We knew she was living in St Albert, but our paths hadn't crossed....long story short...we gave our email address and now we wait. This may be the start of another Hello Cousin story!

6 degrees of separation at it's best! Agree or no? You decide.

My Great Great Grandparents

I recently got an answer back from Aunt Bessie, identifying people in an old photo I found. They are Robert Henry Statton, June 8, 1865 - Nov 23,1959 (son of Digary Statton & Lydia Betts.) and Harriet Mary Latty March 27, 1871 -Dec 6, 1956 (daughter of Robert Latty & Betsey Lyster). The special occasion...their 70 wedding anniversary. Wow...I wonder if i will live long enough to see such an anniversary!

Does anyone else have some old family photos to share? Thanks for the info Aunt Bebe!

101 update

#62 - tote bags not plastic ones
This seems to be coming to the front of the line in a lot of communities. One town in Manitoba has banned those pesky shopping bags which end up clogging the landfills or worse, blowing in the breeze utnil they get wrapped around a fence post or tree. They are a nuisance.

Granted, I've used my fair share. Mostly with pet cleanups...one every day outside for Cody's cleanup and up until recently, 1 inside for Chow's box. So the number of bags into our home stayed constant with their one more time use.

But now, they are quickly ganging up on me. I have 2 bags stashers that were starting to overflow. My solution...take my totes & crates with me when I go shopping. I usually pick up my fresh fruit & veg at least once a week, after I drop off my paper recyclables. I then have 2 crates available for shopping. I always use the thin little veggies bags, so why would I need another larger bag just to carry the stuff into the house? Didn't make sense.

This morning I was asked to take the IKEA survey about their blue bags you can buy for $1 each. We picked up a couple a few years back when we got back into camping. They make awesome dirty laundry totes...fold up to nothing space wise, yet hold a lot. I have 1 for darks,1 for lights - everything's pre-sorted, I just dump into the washers @ the laundromat. I am thinking of grabbing a few more for around the house.

I picked up another garden pop up tote(my last one is starting to wear through on the bottom...but I think I can get another season with some d*ct tape. It flattens down to nothing when not needed but pops open to hold a lot. I use to the hold my grass clippings, rakings etc. Most goes into our composter, but the excess gets dumped at the town's compost pile. I can lift the whole tote into the back of the car, drive over to the heap, turn it out and the whole thing is done,no fuss, no muss. Every garage day during the fine months, I see countless number of bags of grass clippings put out for regular trash pick up. What a waste, although it may help speed up the decomposition at the landfill. But those bags holding the clippings will be with us for such a loooong time. Help our planet, but saying no thanks to a bag whenever you can.

McGregor-Mills family link updated

It snowed last night...boo hoo. This is the seventh consecutive month of snow! I had a few minutes to check the blog...and the link is now updated. Cousin Dave did some work and I guess I missed the memo! Anyways, here it is...McGregor-Mills

Please check your family info for corrections and/or additions. David has instructions on how to contact him. I do know that Alli should advise him of the correct last name spelling for the boys.

Cast & crayons

It's a red one this time! Hopefully it's a sports model and will help speed up the healing.
Kinda hard to play when you are right handed and it's broken...so curl up under a new quilt and watch Scoobie Doo.

And when you feel a bit better, why not sit on the table and cheer your big brother on as he plays a video game!

It was just Joseph & Nannie colouring this morning. Alex gave it a valiant try the previous evening but between the colouring book sliding around and the crayons feeling foreign in left fingers...it just wasn't going to happen.

Alex, we wish you a speedy recovery! Spring is slowly arriving and there's lots of things to see & do!

Happy Easter everyone!

We are off on the road south tomorrow...full schedule for us after we check on the grandsons!
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend. Updates sometime Monday.

Gardening and Yardening

There is an excellent entry and by the sounds of it, I will never be totally free of this potential problem. We do mulch the lawn, and I try to hand aerate...much to the amusement of Joe & the neighbours! Oh well, I don't mind supplying someone with their daily chuckle.

Finished & Safely Delivered

After an embarassing long delay, here is THE QUILT! Once I got going on it, it made up quite quickly - the colours are so much fun!

Alex seemed pleased with his quilt...he even decided to model how it would work if he were to have a little nap on the couch! What a cutie!

So I can now check off #40 as done AND...drum roll please....#6! Joe and Aaron had some tiger prawns and lucky me gave one a try...not my thing, thank you very much. Joe's pleased...now he doesn't have to share!
