This is beyond words!

Well maybe just a quick comment that Joe has been waiting since Lesley & Aaron's wedding for his encore dance to the Village People's YMCA! Well worth the 9 year wait! Love ya dear because of that and inspire of that!

It's all about the chrome...& the pipes

How far can you go on a pound of r*ce? At today's First Annual ARS JDRF Show & Shine, I must have frightened away all the HD's...My Suzuki D*avidson took First Place in the Motorcycle category! The extra chrome and DD Hard Chrome 3" straight pipes did the trick.
A small sampling of some of the car entries...gotta love the vibrant colours under the AB sunshine!
Me & my plaque which will go in my "Love Me" bookcase.
Now...how will I improve on this gem for next year and still have a certain wife talking to me???? Suggestions anyone?

101 things in 1001 days update

I checked off 2 more things in the past 2 days...went for a ride with Joe on his motorcycle and we reworked the front sidewalk. So from Day 1 on March 14, 2007 to present, I have crossed off 33 items. The last day for this is December 9, 2009. Sounds like a lot of time but when you factor in the seasonal things...I better get a move on it! Wish me luck.

Still on holidays so limited online time

We didn't realize how on edge we were about Heather's wedding. I think it was a combination of nerves, and the 9 years since Lesley's nuptials to Aaron...we had a looong time to think of different stuff to do and the rising costs associated with it. In the end, except for the gown cleaning...haven't brought it in yet...we are slightly below the forecast budget.SHHH! Don't tell anyone...I think I may be able to swing some new carpet...or mildly used carpet! lol

All in all, everyone went smoothly, we had lots of near and dear friends and family to celebrate with and it was worth every cent. the next big shindig will be for Joe & I as we renew our vows. I wanted to do this at 25 but with Mom's passing so soon before it wasn't the right time. I think 35 is a great number, don't you? Perhaps a Survivor 2010 weekend...we had a blast @ Survivor 2000! Or maybe a wedding-moon type of affair. Details to follow as soon as I break the news to the groom!

Joe broke the "on Vacation" cardinal rule and went into work on Tuesday. Nice guy, he dropped me off @ IKEA - which I thoroughly enjoyed and spent lots! - while he sorted out some pressing issues. Wednesday we stopped by Riverside and bought me a helmet before heading out to check out some seasonal campgrounds. We want a place where we can park the camper for the whole summer. Seen a gorgeous place on Pine lake but missed the boat so to speak. They have decided to go into a membership only campground and the initial offerings are at a higher rate than the mortgage on our house! Go Figure that one...didn't make sense to us either so we gracefully declined to attend their upcoming disclosure meeting. So our search continues, perhaps to the Rocky Mountain House area Friday or Saturday.

This morning we headed out on the chrome machine...my first ride since the GoldWing days...totally different experience. Louder, more exposure to the elements and a lot more raw power. Oh and I'm 15 years OLDER!!!!! Does that make a difference? I was definitely out of my comfort zone and isn't that what living life to the fullest is all about? If not, email me before tomorrow's run! And we have a show & shine we are entering on Sunday. I'll be the one with helmet hair!!!!

Must run...got a movie to watch and a glass of wine to sip!

Just for you Heather!

The Big Day!

Busy weekend

The gang arrived about 2 hours ahead of schedule, just as I was washing the bathroom floor. Bit they didn't mind...the kids just wanted to change into their trunks and hit the hot tub.

Saturday while Alex and Lesley had a casual morning, the rest of us headed out for an 8 am tee off. We did the back nine - a first for Joey & me and I quite enjoyed it. We headed back and switched vehicles, picked up the others and headed to the farmer's market. Oh the goodies we got...fresh peas, berries, foccacia, olives, and of course lunch out!

Saturday we also had a nice visit from Edmond & Josephine and Lydia & Alli. We got caught up on more pf what's going on and I had a chance to show off my garden in progress.

Sunday was a bit different. We split up. Lesley and I headed to a Botanic Park for a group tour and lunch while the guys headed to the bowling lanes. Back to the house for some bocce ball while the kids played in & out of the hot tub. My favorite saying...don't hit the greenhouse! Seemed like the balls just gravitated in that direction. Poor Cody took shelter back in the house from all those flying balls.

Of course we played games after the kids went to bed...Scatagories the first night,Scrabble and Qii, Saturday night and last night was all out, no holds barred Cranium and then Rumoli. Who knows...it may be darts tonight!

Today is laundry day, haircuts and then family portraits, followed by supper out. We'll be letting the moose at Montana's feed us tonight!

Hope your weekend was as much fun as ours...I'll post photos later when I have a few more free minutes.

Excellent Movie...we almost missed it!

Sunday was a very wet one and Joe and I couldn't get outside to finish our latest project so we headed to our local video store. We weren't the first with that idea and the shelves were somewhat empty. But another couple also browsing suggested SECONDHAND LIONS, said it was well worth a viewing. Well we finally got around to watching it and it's a great family style movie.

Click
HERE and watch a short trailer as posted on YouTube. The movie was released in 2003, and I'm not sure why I never heard of it before...ok...stop laughing...I'm not that up on the world of entertainment! If you have seen this, I'd be very interested in your thoughts on it.

Lovely phone call yesterday

It's not too often that I get to talk with Irene aka Nannie. Usually Joe hogs the phone but this time he was still on his way home from work. Lucky me!

Things are good in her corner of the world...quilting and keeping busy! I think that is what keeps her and anyone for that matter, young at heart!

I'm digressing...the point of this post is to see if Irene can figure out how to comment with some step by step instructions. So here goes.....

On the bottom of this post...in small letters after my Until Next Time banner....you will see a small line that says ...comments...click on that and you will go into another screen ( it may be in another tab or window - so look for it on the bottom of your computer screen)

Here you can read the comments posted up to that time and leave a quick note of your own. More details in today's post...so go and click on the comments line just below this....

I haven't really fallen off the face of the world!

Just been busy but not really productive these days. There is a difference.

First off...Joe is sleeping much better now with his new little friend. He's thinking of a name to call it...perhaps My Cousin Larry or R2. Any suggestions? The unit itself only makes as much noise as a small fan but when the mask gets pushed about when someone rolls over, it emits a piercing squealing sound. I'm not sleeping well...but Joe was a dear and got himself off to work this morning after bringing me a coffee in bed. Mind you it was very cold when I finally woke up.

Still puttering in the yard. We finally have a concrete plan on that old piece of deck that was covered by the A frame shed. Saturday we ripped in out and hauled the old decking to the dump. Sunday was a wash out because of the weather. But this morning I managed to get Sunday's deck work done up to the screwing. That's a 2 person job.

So this afternoon I'm going to try and smooth out the centre hole of a concrete deck block. Intrigued? I decided to try and move my clothes line closer to the deck for winter use. And I can't find a piece of 2" diameter plastic tubing anywhere so...the deck block hole is 2" but the burrs have to be filed back. We plan on burying the block in more cement right near the deck edge and than grassing around it. I'd like to be as green as possible, despite the season.

My allergies and sinus have been troubling me since our Med Hat trip...coincidence? I'm not sure. I've been switching between Sinus T*b and Re*ctin depending on what is bothering me most...itchy eyes or that sinus drip down the back of my throat. I'm sure that is also contributing to my lack of sound sleep and productivity! Well must run...this computer is cutting into my lunch time! Be good!

It's official!

Joe got the call from his sleep test...apparently the doctor who reads and interprets the information requested that Joe get a machine ASAP. Joe's oxygen levels went as low as 60% with him not breathing on average of 59 times per hour. That's a lot of air not going to the brain & body.

So, this morning Joe picked up a machine and he has it on a free 1 month trial. He's quite excited about it all once the technician explained that his metabolism and energy levels should pick up significantly in the not so distant future. It may be like turning back the hands of time...more energy, sharper mind and a healthier body. There should be less stress on the heart IE lower high blood pressure, which in turn should be better news for the kidneys. Bonus...the excess weight should return to a more normal level.

When I think back on all this, the high blood pressure and the news of Berger Disease all seems to have happened around the time that Joe had his nose surgery and then laser treatment on his throat. Coincidence perhaps. But I'm very excited to see how this all plays out. First step, I'll let Joe back into the bedroom! He went to sleep down the hall so I could get some sleep because I was struggling through my days after sleepless nights next to my champion snorer.

Thanks Joe for finally getting this checked out...for all of us!

Interesting Numbers

With summer well underway, temperatures are rising. What better way to cool off than to sit on a patio - perhaps your own! - and have a few cool ones.

But wait...are you aware of just how many calories and carbs are in your favorite alcoholic refreshment?

Should you go for a Bud Light or a Mike's Hard Lemonade? Or perhaps a high ball...hmmm...pop = lots of sugar calories!

Here's a great resource to help you decide what you need to know about Alcohol Facts

And one last note...Don't drink and drive!
