Friday wrap up

To put Mumzy's mind at ease...I am a 1 day at a time kind of gal...but I wanted my young nephew to know that time isn't limitless...there was a beginning and we never know when the end will be but make the most of each and every day we are blessed with.

Dad has made the big move across the parking lot. His address remains the same with the exception of "Cottage C" now becomes Room 207. As of this morning, he's adjusting well to his new digs!

Have a great weekend...last one of November! Then the real craziness begins!

Happy Day to JT!

Today is Joseph's 7th birthday...and Nannie & Papa will call him with birthday wishes once he gets home from school. It doesn't seem like that long...and I'm sure we'll soon be planning his graduation celebration.

World news continues to be glum. Finally the financial issues of our globe has been overshadowed by the violence and turmoil of Mumbai. I only hope that our dear friend Maria Paul is fine in Goa where they have just announced a high alert.

I was thinking about my own mortality...not in a doom & gloom sort of way. I was reviewing some of my list of 101 things in 1001 days and expanded that to encompass more things I want to do/see/experience etc. If I live another 30 years ...Dad is 30 years older than I am...I would have 1560 weekends left! 1560 Saturdays, 30 Christmases, 30 more tax returns (x 2), 30 more calendars...oh my...I better get going! Catch ya later, alligator!

A sweet visit with Dad

Dad looks a bit startled because I don't think he realized he was having company on Friday. We went over to the cottage to find him all tucked into a cozy recliner...watching Bonanza! He was really into that episode...I caught a glimpse of Hoss ...and I had a brief deja vu. I almost felt like nudging him over so I could climb in!
Poor Dad...we kept sneaking up on him...this time while he was having his afternoon snack...again I missed out of something good!

Dad will be moving over to the main Good Samaritan building. This is great timing because there are lots of holiday events planned...music, dancing and the like. They do lots of neat things like chair exercises and crafts...and Dad will be able to take them all in without having to venture outside. Dad will be getting a new mailing address and phone number so as soon as we get it, we'll pass it along.

Just Because

Look what Joe received this week? One of his Mom's famous wolf quilts! I'm not sure how many she has made but I'm sure we have the nicest one!!!!! And as an added treat...a box of King Cole tea to chase away the winter chill! Thank you Irene for thinking of us!
A bit overdue...Brian and his new acquisition! He still goes around with that big grin on his face despite the crazy hours he's keeping.

Icy roads the other night in northern BC sent him over to WalMart to buy a sleeping bag...all the motels were full! But his work truck had a full back seat, so armed with a box of granola bars, a Stephen King book, and the new bedding, he was warm as well as safe and sound! It's all part of the adventure!

My DUH! moment for the day!

I was awake early this morning...more insomnia...so decided to get up, start coffee and read. I went to put dear Lyla out in her doggy run. I meant to only semi close the door...Yup! I locked myself out of Lesley's house this morning! And it had snowed!

The okay news...I was fully dressed and was wearing my LuLu Lemon jacket and had my shoes on. The better news...Lesley was half awake and heard my one ring of the doorbell! As a last resort I was heading to the basement window to try and wake Joe.

Lesson learned...check knob before pulling!!!!

What a week!

Brian had 3 days off work unexpectedly and so Joe pulled a quick...I'm out of the office trick and we were heading south before I even realized it! These type of impromptu outings are a harder to do seeing as I have a student in the house to care for. But Brian stepped up and they did just fine without me. sniff sniff!

So while Joe helped Aaron insulate the walls of the garage, I was inside helping with the day home kids and hemming 4 pairs of Alex's pants. I can remember only all too well why I sewed for my girls and why my Mom sewed my clothes. Seemed my arms and legs grew disproportionately to my trunk. Gee...seems like I'm still out of balance!

We picked up our Wii Fit that the Becks gifted us for our anniversary. I had a chance to make next week's SU cards while a couple of the other ladies worked on their Christmas cards. I wasn't prepared for my cards...now to get myself motivated and DO THEM!

Then a dash home in time to check on Kevin before heading out the door to the Alberta Ballet's Midsummer Night's Dream. What an incredible performance...so much different from Peter Pan. One was very technical with the flying routines and this one was was serene and humorus. Puck was exactly how I imagined him to be. And they had some local children from the various dance schools perform many of the fairy and sprite characters. All very talented and just a magical evening from start to finish.
Last night after a cheese fondue for 2 ...the boys were on their own road trip for work...Joe & I set up the new Wii balance board and had a go at it. Well I'm happy with my Wii age but not my weight or BMI, but I do own a few mirrors so it wasn't a HUGE surprise! Joe quite liked the balance challenges and was ever so pleased to have top ranking on many. But hopefullt that will soon change and I will reign supreme!

Lesley has mentioned she wanted a Wii challenge of some sort, she has still to work out the details. I don't think that straight weight loss would be fair, so perhaps a combination of weight, BMI and effort will work for all. Stay tuned...I'm sure we will both be posting about this,

We are off to the gold medal game of the World Junior Hockey tourney in Camrose tonight. I don't know who is playing but I'm sure it will be another great outing.

I am sitting the the front row...far left...the one with the saggy leotards and the scuffed shoes! Those were tough times when everything was used and reused. Dad was usually pretty good with shoe polishing but I guess I either gave them a heck of a workout on the way to school or he didn't get them done.

I wish I could remember everyone's names...sigh.
